STUDIO UPDATE -April 5, 2020

Please read our entire update-We have schedule change and more important information for our families.

Our Dance Community never ceases to amaze us!  Thank you for all your emails, posts & phone calls for the last 2 weeks.  We love our dancers and their families so much!!!  Thank you for your love and support.

Just since Thursday, March 12th the landscape of Portage county and the world has changed.  The governor of Ohio issued a "Stay at Home" order and obviously things are changing rapidly and we are doing our best to review and understand all the most recent information from our government sources and its impact on our business and our community.

Updated closure dates - Lisa's School of Dance Physical studios will be closed until further notice

We have received incredible feedback from our dance community about the positive impact of our free live classes, CLI free live classes and other various dancers that have provided free classes for the dance community.  We truly believe that it is very important to continue to provide dance education and training to our students while they are doing remote learning with their schools during the school closures.  Our dancers are no longer able to participate in regular physical education classes or school sports programs and physical activity is such an important part of maintaining a child's well being and emotional stability.

As of April 13, 2020 - LSD will re-open and roll out LSD Online Academy providing virtual dance classes to our existing students during their regular standard class time with their regular teachers.  These classes will be posted on Google classroom.  Information and passwords for Google classroom will be forthcoming.  We will also offer Live classes via Zoom.  (Live Zoom classes will be posted the week before, so parents are able to prepare to login for their dancers).

How do I access my Student's Regular Class?  We will be using Goohle classroom/Zoom and our private Facebook page.  Miss Kristen will be getting an email with all information for getting on google classroom.

What if I can't do the class at the regular time?  All dance classes will remain on the teacher's google classroom for at least ONE WEEK from the original class date.  We will try to keep the classes on as long as possible, but with storage limitations we might have to delete classes after a week or two.  The recital routine & music will always be available in each classroom.

How long will LSD online Academy Continue?  At this time, we are planning to resume regular classes as soon as our Governor gives the all clear for group classes to resume.  This date is subject to change as circumstances change.

How Long is Each Academy Class?  Academy classes will be the exact length of time as your regular dance class:  30-45 minutes.  At the end of each class, dancers will be assigned "homework" to work on particular skills and or Practice recital routines.

Is there Opportunity for Individual Feedback for the Dancers?  Yes!  Dancers can send private messages and videos to the teachers through google classroom/Facebook messenger/teacher's email or Text.  Teachers will respond to student questions about choreography and technique and provide constructive corrections on submitted videos of recital choreography performance.  These messages and corrections will be solely between the teachers and the dancers/parents - they will not be posted on our private Facebook page:  Lisa's Dance Choreography 2020

Are there any restrictions on google classroom postings?  For the health and well being of our dancers and faculty, LSD will not post anything before 9am or after 9PM Monday - Thursday:  Saturday 9:00am -1:00PM:  We are closed Friday & Sunday.  Dancers can access their google classroom at any time.

What is the cost to continue with these classes?  Even though you will have access to ALL of the classes taught for the day that your child takes class from their teacher and any other dance instructors that teach that day, the cost for our first 3 weeks:  April 13- May 2nd will be your free trial and includes make up of classes for March 16Th-21st and Spring Break Classes March 23rd-28th.  Billing date for the next month May 4th -30th will be your regular tuition -10% discount for online classes.  *we are hopeful to be back in the studio by June!!!!

How do I make payments?  Accounts on autopay will be charged on May 4th.  If you are not on autopay, you can pay using credit card over the phone, mail a check to Lisa's School of Dance - 1517 Streetsboro Plaza - Streetsboro, OH  44241 or drop in our mailbox at the studio.  ***If you have booster money it can be used for dance classes at this time.  All accounts must be up to date to participate and May must be paid by the 2nd.

What if I don't want to participate in LSD Online Academy?  If you don't want to participate in LSD virtual classes, you have the opportunity to cancel your dancer's class by emailing  CANCELLATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5PM FRIDAY, May 1,  2020.

What is happening with Recital 2020?  As of right now, we do not have an update on the where, when or how of Recital 2020.  LSD is committed to provide a performance opportunity for our dancers (especially our Senior Dancers) at the end of this season but we are trying to figure the best possible way to make it happen.  We hope to have additional information as soon as it becomes available.  We will be dancing through the month of June at this time.

What can you do at home?

*Practice Social distancing when outside your home and Good Hygiene

*Take your regular dance class through LSD Online Academy.

Closing note from Lisa

Thank you again to all our amazing dance families and our community.  We have truly loved providing a safe, loving, creative and encouraging home for kids and young adults in the Streetsboro and surrounding communities of the past 37 years.  We have no intention of going anywhere.

With that said, we are a small family-owned business, not a large corporation like Target/Walmart or a chain like Starbucks.  Meeting all our financial obligations to our landlords, utilities, taxes and insurance, not to mention payroll is very tough when our enrollment suffers a significant blow.  Your continued support of Lisa's School of Dance helps us to provide a livelihood for our amazing staff and ability to survive to have another season for dancers in our wonderful community.  We do understand we are not the only business that has suffered a loss of income, We are here to help and if you need help, please send an email to  Please remember to be patient with us at this time, we are in uncharted waters and we are trying our best for our dancers.

How to reach us at Lisa's School of Dance

Until further notice, updates will be emailed the 1st & 15th of every month.  We will of course send additional updates if significant changes occur.

Dance payments can be made over the phone

March Update:

Lisa’s School of Dance

1517 Streetsboro Plaza

Dear Loyal Families and Students,

The health and safety of our students and faculty have been, and always will be, our most important priorities.  As COVID-19 continues to spread and affect many parts of the U.S., we have been closely monitoring local and state regulations, conditions, and closings.

After consulting with local colleagues, industry leaders, legal counsel, and taking into consideration state and local regulations, we have determined that it is in the best interest of our students and faculty to temporarily suspend all classes effective Monday, March 16th.  The studio will be closed until Sunday, March 29th where we will then re-evaluate the situation and update our dance families.

Our staff is working hard to determine a plan for make up classes and/or a possible extended season to ensure delivery of all classes.  As this rapidly changing situation evolves, we ask for your patience and grace as we make plans to best serve you and your children.

In the meantime, recital dates remain unchanged.  We will continue to monitor the situation, and should emergency directions be issued regarding our recital, we will update you accordingly.

Please continue to check your email in the coming days/weeks for exciting digital messages from your child’s dance teachers.  We will be staying in touch, sending recital music for your younger students to practice their dance at home.

Thank you for taking the appropriate steps with us to lessen the risk to our community as much as possible.  We greatly appreciate your support during these challenging times.   This too shall pass and we will be dancing again soon.

Dancingly Yours,

Lisa A. Testa
